Butte Fire Recovery
On the afternoon of September 9th, 2015, a fire started on Butte Mountain of Amador County that would make its way to Calaveras County, destroying over 500 homes and displacing hundreds of residents in its wake. The fire lasted over a month, consumed over 70,000 acres, and roughly 1,000 structures. The area has been hit hard, but through this devastation, it has become aparent that the community will perservere.

Since the start of the fire, offers to help those affected have been pouring in. Friends of Rail Road Flat School has been, and will continue to be dedicated to the recovery and rebuilding of our community. Read about
